I dug out some old SU! paper & Die's and made this Gift Card Holder.

Old Love letters box

I have had this box for.....forever!

I have always kept it in my dropleaf desk. I put things in it that I want to keep. Cards from my Mom, letters from my sister's, friends, funeral cards, pictures that my Grandkids have drawn and colored for me or a last card or letter from my husband. Some of these things eventually get put in a scrapbook. But until then, I keep them in this box. I had to do a little gluing on it because it was starting to fall apart. I could have just gone out and bought another but this box and I have been through a lot. I just couldn't just throw it away.

I started out by using Modge Podge and gluing all my paper on. Next, is  a Lg Scallop Circle then a Large Doily that I cut out of some gold paper. After that, is another gold Doily that I fan-folded, some paper flowers and lots of green leaves. I added a ribbon that I made from 2 different pieces of ribbon. In the middle of my ribbon is an old clip earring that was my Mother-in-Law's.

 

Around the middle of my box I glued on some gold ribbon. Then, holding my box closed is a piece of ribbon with a button on it. On the under-side of the ribbon is some Velcro.

Boy, it sure looks better than it did! I probably should have taken a pic of it before I started.

Pretty in Pink

Well...I finally got out my sewing machine. I used to do a little sewing when I was younger but anymore the sewing machine kinda intimidates me. I just love the look of sewing on cards but am usually in such a hurry, I just don't try it.

I found these cute little SU! brads that I had in my stash. They look like little buttons! So cute! I also added a little safety pin to my bow. The bow is so easy to make. It's called a "fork bow" and you can learn how to make one HERE. Beneath the fork bow is a paper bow. I used my new Cheery Lynn Dies- Fanciful Flourish (leaves) and Italian Flourish Doily. The image is by From The Heart Digital Stamps "Pail of Flowers". I think this will make a nice Anniversary card.

My new Dies

 

I am sooo excited! I purchased a couple of new Dies the other day. Not only did they ship them freaky fast but they work perfectly with my "Big Shot" tabletop Die cutter! I have seen many cards on Blogspace that have used Cheery Lynn Designs Dies & they looked amazing! But, I was a little worried...I have bought a few things (elsewhere) in the past, that didn't quite work out like they said they would. :(  Not the case here...

I have the Doily mostly covered up with my Little Girl image, so you can't see all the detail. But, it's beautiful!

 

 

I used this Platform I had, with 2 clear plates.

Clear plate, Platform, paper, Die and then the other clear plate.

I ran everything through several times; back & forth.

 

 

I used my paper-piercer to pop out the cut-outs.

Purple & Black Top Note Purse

I just LOVE purses! And I have a lot of them. More than I will ever be able to wear out.

To make this paper purse, click HERE to go to Inking Idaho.

To make the Flower, I took 2 Scallop Punch shapes, scored them & punched a small hole in the middle of each one.

Then, I cut one slit in between one of the scallops, just up to the punched hole. Do a mountain fold( I think that's what they call it) on all the score lines of both scallop punched pieces. Glue both scallops together. I am horrible at giving instructions...sorry. Hope you can figure it out. :(  

I thought these would make a great gift. I plan on putting a tube of flavored chapstick & a small bottle of Hand Sanitizer inside the purse.

The Pixie Cottage Challenge #57- Sketch &/or Embossing

The challenge @ The Pixie Cottage is a sketch &/or embossing. I used "Spring Kaela" by Designed2Delight. I colored her with my new Copic Markers. I could only afford a few but I am loving them! I tried to follow the sketch & I embossed the papers using "Polka Dots" & "Vintage Wallpaper" embossing Folders by SU!

I made the triangle background piece, by cutting the paper 2 times with SU!'s Top Note Die. I know she is named "Kaela" but for my St. Patrick's Day card, her name is "Bridget". ;)

I wanted to make Valentine cards to send to my parents & In-Laws. Both couples have been married a long time. My In-Laws have been married 65 years & are both dealing with health issues. He is in the hospital right now & she is down the hall in the nursing home. Today, I went to visit them & thought they might like to see each other. I rolled Grandma (as we call her) down to Grandpa's room. It was a very happy & sad moment. They were so happy to see each other. But it was kinda rough to watch. Life is a matter of moments. Life changes, we change physically & mentally... but true love endures.
For my card I used SU!'s Elements of Style for the sentiment & the following punches: 2-1/2" circle, Owl, Scallop Edge, Boho Blossoms (with "Punch Potpourri" stamp set) & Modern Label. For the background I used the Top Note Die & Polka Dot Embossing Folder.

Top Note Purse

Challenge #2 @ "do You Stack Up?"- Distress it

To make my project, I die cut 4 Top Notes in Soft Suede cardstock. Two of the Top Notes, I wrinkled up into a ball a couple of times, unfolded, ran them through my Big Shot with Vintage Embossing Folder & sponged with Soft Suede ink. It has the look & feel of real leather! You can find the directions for this purse here @

Here's my project for Stampin' Celebrations challenge for this week. I used my favorite, mini milk carton Die & found a carrier pattern that will hold 2 milk cartons.
Go to Paper Punch Addiction for a tutorial on how to make this cute carrier. I used the Birthday Bakery stamp set, my SU! markers, Pretty In Pink & Not Quite Navy cardstock, along with some Greenhouse Gala DSP. Punches: 1" circle, scallop edge & scallop circle. I added a couple of 1/2" library clips on top & a Pretty In Pink brad & bow. Inside are chocolate-cherry M&M's. Ever had them? Yum!

Snowman Soup

I got this idea from Lisa Young, a very talented SU! Demonstrator. I loved it so much, that I have started mass producing them! I like to give a small gift to my neighbors, the mail man etc... I also, try to keep a little something around in case the need arises.

"Big Shot" Purse

My big sister Mary, has been at it again! She is making purses for her church bazaar with the "Big Shot" & the Scallop Square Die. Did you know that you can cut out material with these Dies? It's quick & easy, I hear. I don't sew, (darn it) but if I did I think I would have a lot of fun making these purses.
