Thank you for Bee-ing so kind

Here's what's going on @ the Happy Monday Challenge!
This Week's Challenge: Reaching Out to Our Elderly
Once each month we ask you to make something to meet a specific need in our community. Your challenge this time is to make a card or other handmade project to appreciate or just give a little extra attention to a senior citizen. This could be someone you know, or someone you reach through your church, a local retirement home or senior activity center, etc.

Wonderful Challenge!...don't you think? I work at a Nursing Home. I have met a lot of interesting people, who face all sorts of different challenges everyday. There is one particular lady, that deals with constant pain & yet is so kind to everyone. I decided to make her a journal.  I thought that she could write in it, use it for a guest book for visitors, etc. I used the digi & sentiment, "Bee-lieve" by Deedee's Digis. I added some gold glitter to the bee hive, colored with Copics & used some DP by SU!
If you can, join the Happy Monday Challenge. It's a great challenge & if you use one of their images on your challenge entry (they have a freebie on their side-bar), you will get this week's dollar digi, "Life's a picnic" for free!
Also, if you haven't already, click on the Creative Cowgirls Challenge Badge on the top-left corner on my blog. You can see my Guest DT card & info about entering their current challenge!
Thanks for stopping!   b.

A Good Egg!

My husband had a saying for everything! In fact, I have a little notebook full of things he used to say all the time. Just when I think I have written them all down, I remember another. Since our Grandchildren are so young, they may not remember him when they get older. I hope this little book gives them a connection to their wise "Grandpa Mow."
Whenever he spoke about someone that he thought highly of, he would call them "a good egg." Today, this is my good egg. This digi & sentiment, "Eggstra Pretty" was a freebie from Crafting With Deedee's Digis, that I received just for participating in their weekly challenge. Isn't is perfect! So simple & beautiful.
To make my card, I used inspiration from Darsie, one of their talented DT's.
paper- SU! Paisley Petals
leaves- Sizzlits "little leaves"
brad- "Antique Brads" SU!
Crystal Effects, jewelry piece from my stash, Scallop Edge punch, Prima flowers (sponged with ink pads), SU! markers & embossing folder.

Amazing Love

I won this image & sentiment from Crafting With Deedee's Digis. Beautiful isn't it? It's called "Amazing Love." I wanted to do some stitching on my card... Everybody does it but me. :(  But I managed to control myself. I was pretty sure it would be a disaster! Instead, I used my paper piercer & a white gel pen. I think it worked! Stitching just makes it look more finished, don't you think? I used some gold Puff Paint in the center of the flowers & some Crystal Effects on the Cross.

Clean & Simple

The challenge @ Happy Monday Challenge is a sketch. I wanted to keep my card simple, so that it was easy to mail. The digi & sentiment are called "Cup of Joy" by Crafting With Deedee's Digis. I enjoyed coloring it with my new markers! In the middle of the flowers, I used some gold Puff Paint.
FYI: For all of you that like to make recycled gifts, I heard on the radio that, in an effort to be green, they are going to start making Toilet Paper without the cardboard roll! So, start hoarding! :)

Wishing Well

(Random Winner!)
I needed a Get Well card & over at Crafting With Deedee's Digis they have a challenge going on, anything yellow. Well, this is mostly yellow. :) If I had a wishing well, among lots of other things, would be the wish, that it would STOP SNOWING. It was just snowing like the devil last night! This morning, it looks like we probably got 4-5 inches & the wind is blowing. I know, some have it worse.

Red Hot

Here is another card for the challenge Red Hot! @ "do you stack up?" This is called a Shadow Box Card. You can find the instructions on how to make one HERE. As you can probably tell, I really like this digi. It was a freebie @ Crafting With Deedee's Digis. His poor little heart is melting! It kinda looks gross though... the way I colored it... looks like it's bleeding. :-[
Oh well, it's was lots of fun to make.

In His Time

I altered this handy little post-it-note holder, that I received as a end-of-the-year Thank You gift from my hairdresser. It had a not-so-attractive cover on it. The digi is a freebie I got from Crafting with Deedee's Digis. They have a progressive challenge. If you use one of their digi's (there is a free one on the side bar of their blog) & post your project on their site, then next week you get the new digital stamp in your email. You can't beat that?
I colored the image with my SU! markers. I cut some of the pieces out & raised them with some "dimensionals". For the background, I used white cardstock, 1/2 of a scallop circle & blue ink. I laid the 1/2 scallop down & sponged the edges, to make the sky. Clever huh? I saw somebody do this, when I was surfing around looking for inspiration.
It was so warm here yesterday, made me think of spring. But, today it is back to being cold & breezy. I guess I shouldn't complain. It is winter. Just hope the weather man doesn't say that "S" word for a while.

more than chocolate

It's a sketch challenge @ Crafting With Deedee's Digis. Since I played along last week, I received this new digi from them, in my email. Su...weet! This is the 3rd card that I've made with this image & sentiment. I love the sketch. Takes all the frustration out of it. I used my SU! markers, ribbon, some glitter (on the candy), pink diamonds, & the following punches; scallop border, Heart to Heart, 2-Step Bird (leaves), Boho Blossoms, scallop oval & wide oval. The brown background paper, I ran through a Crimper, to give it the same texture as the candy cups...or what ever you call 'em. :) I also, cut & colored an extra set of the hearts (that are in the middle of the bonbons) then used pop-up dots to give them a little more dimension. A fun image to work with, as usual. Can't wait to see what we get next week!

Think Pink.

The challenge this week at "do you stack up?", is Think Pink. Well, I did a lot of thinking & this is what I came up with. :) This digi & sentiment is called "More Than Chocolate", from "Crafting with Deedee's Digis". I colored the image with SU! markers, then colored & cut out another heart for the Bonbon & adhered it with a pop-up dot. I added some glitter, a button, a bow & a few pink diamonds. I just love the pink & brown together. Sentiment: I love you more than chocolate...In case you're wondering, that's an awful lot

You Melt My Heart!

Crafting With DeeDee's Digis Challenge

Isn't he a cute snowman? Ahh, don't feel bad, I think he liked it!
I had a lot of fun making this. I found a "candy bar holder" pattern HERE. I did some adjusting to make it fit 2 Granola Bars. I can't really tell you the measurements, cause I just kinda winged-it. :) I printed out & colored the snowman digi 3 times. The first one, I matted. The second, I cut out all the snowman accessories & adhered them on their appropriate places with dimensionals. The third digi, I cut out all the pieces & laid them around, as if he had melted. Cute huh? The sentiment, I came up with, & printed off WordPad. The holder is held closed with a Velcro Dot. This is probably my favorite snowman so far. Very well drawn, don't you think? I love his hat! I got him at Crafting With DeeDee's Digis.

Valentine

The challenge at Crafting With Deedee's Digis is to make a card using pink & red. I used their current freebie to make a valentine. This card opens in the middle. I colored the hearts with my SU! markers & then cut both hearts out. I printed out the digi again & cut & colored the little heart shaped button, that is on the left heart & popped it up with a dimensional. (That is what helps hold the card closed.) Other things I used, was scallop edge punch, 2-3/8" scallop circle punch, 1/16" punch, a silver heart brad & sentiment from SU!'s "Holiday Best". Fun challenge... It was really hard not use other colors, along with the pink & red.
