Fun in the Sun

Last Saturday, my DIL, Grandkids and I went to The Fox Farms Pumpkin Patch. It was a beautiful day! This is the kids jumping into a pile of straw. They had lots of fun!
For my layout, I used a 12x12 piece of Soft Suede cardstock. Then I layered on a piece of DP that looks like a field of wheat. Under that is a piece of DP of the sky. Up in the corner, I sponged some More Mustard ink on the piece of chipboard from W.O.W. (Words or Whatever), "Fun In The Sun" and added a flower. Behind the words, I added a sun that I made with a 2-1/2" circle punch. Below is some paper ribbons I cut out of More Mustard and Soft Suede cardstock. I punched a couple of small holes in the paper ribbons and tied a bow with some ribbon and jute. Beside the bow is a button (Flair), that was included in the August Scrapbook Kit from Artful Delight.

Love this

I think I need a new camera. My pictures don't look as good as my layout's do IRL. lol  Anyway, I am still doing scrapbooks for my grandkids, using old family pictures. This is one of me and my late husband, Steve.
I started out with 12x12 cardstock- Bermuda Bay by SU! and sponged some brown and white ink on the cardstock. On the right of the picture, I used a stencil by TCW and some white Molding Paste. Then, I used a white gel pen and added dots all over and a border. On the left side, I punched 6- 1" holes and weaved some Bermuda Bay ribbon through the holes. I then tied 4 bows on the weaved ribbon and glued 2 strips of DP ("season of color" by Webster's pages), along side of the ribbon.
I like the look of corrugated cardboard, but for the life of me, I couldn't find any in the stash! So, I used a piece of DP that looks like wood and my "crimper". I also made the arrows with that paper and a square punch.  Under that, I added some more pieces of DP by Webster Pages behind my picture.
I punched the flowers (used the crimper on them), leaves, a tag and then added some cardboard cut outs and a brad that I had.
I would like to enter my layout @:

Rock Star

This is for my Grandaughter ready for school! All those who did well on an exam got to dress up like a Rock Star. She even had purple hair. What fun!
Frosted Designs- 3x3 (I used 3 arrows, 3 stars and 3 rectangles)
I made my arrows with a heart punch. I put little drops of "Stickles" on the background paper and on the 3 stars.

Me and Cali

The first of this month we went to the NE State Fair. My Grandson was so thrilled that he got kissed by a Sea Lion! He was a little scared but he was glad he did it.
I used the Sketch @ Artful Delight

SEPTEMBER LAYOUT SKETCH ASC #36
I turned it a quarter turn as you can see.

I used a piece of chipboard that I won from WOW (Words or Whatever). I thought that it looked a lot like the netting in the picture. I colored the chipboard with a black Geleto that I also won! Neat stuff! I used my SU! Bird Punch and tried to make them look like sea gulls.

Reilly Boys

My sister has done years of research on my Mom and Dad's family. I love to read all the stories and look at the pictures! Top/left- Christopher was born in Ireland in about 1808. He became a member of the Armagh Light Infantry. My sister took me with her to Ireland and we went to Armagh. It gave me a chilling feeling to think that I was in the same town where my Great Great Grandfather joined the Militia! My Great Grandfather (top/right) was born in India, my Grandfather (bottom/left) was a Doctor and his brother (bottom/far left) was a Priest! So many interesting people in my family with great stories. I am going to try to keep their stories alive with the help of  my sister Mary's research and some paper and glue.  :)

Grandparents

This is a layout that I did for my Grand kids' scrapbooks. I barely remember my Grandma Reilly and my Grandpa Reilly died before I was born. I think I would have liked them. My Grandfather was a Doctor in Grand Island, a town near me. My Grandmother was a sharp-dressed lady and that's about all I remember. They had a beautiful house and every year we would travel there for a few days in the summer. We lived in Denver, so it was a pretty good drive. My Dad would usually travel at night. It was cooler and we all (8 of us plus a very large dog!) would sleep on the way there and not fight. "Mom she's looking at me!" You know, that kind of thing. lol Awww...the good 'ole days!

hamster ball

My Grandkids were here this weekend. We all went to the "Columbus Days" activities. It was a lot of fun. Kind of a mini State Fair!
With very little encouragment, Ryan took a spin in The Hamster Ball. LOL What fun! I would have liked to try it but I was afraid I wouldn't fit through the entry hole :(

Here's a close up of my favorite picture-

I wanted to use something that reminded me of the texture of the Ball. The only thing I could come up with was bubble wrap. I found some in my stuff and added a couple circles of it to the the right of the pictures. I punched out some of the circles that are in the background paper and attached them with black brads. I added a ribbon....I know...it's a boy's layout but I sometimes can't help myself :(
I followed the sketch at Sketches in Thyme and would like to enter their Challenge- Sketches in Thyme #120

June

I have been working on my Grandkids scrapbooks. Most of the layouts are pictures of them and their busy lives but every once and a while I like to throw in some keepsakes. This is one of them...a picture of my Mother.
IRL it looks more like a painting than just a picture.
I started out by double matting my picture. Then, in one corner, I glued down 3 flowers, some brown leaves (punched), some rust colored fiber/yarn stuff (sorry, don't know what it's called), and then a "fork bow" with some rust colored ribbon. You can learn more about the bow HERE. I made a banner by punching out 4 squares and then hand cutting them. I inked the edges, added lettering ("June", my Mom's name), then punched 2 holes in each piece, weaved some brown twine through them and tied a bow at each end.

On the other side, I printed out my Mom's full name and birth date on this paper I found at the Discount store the other day. It is called Computer Grafix- Printable Transparent Plastic Sheets with adhesive backing. Wonderful stuff! I can make my own stickers now.

love face

I have been working on my Grandkids scrapbooks. I just love this (engagement ?) picture of my Mom. My Dad who passed away last fall, had a nickname for all of us kids. Most of us were blessed with only one nickname. Mom was the lucky one :) She had many! One of them was "love face".  The caption at the bottom says, "love face...one of the nicknames that Great Grandpa Reilly called Great Grandma."
I just got this August Scrapbook Kit from Artful Delight, in the mail the other day. It felt just like Christmas! I have quite a bit of scrapbook material in my spare room closet but most of it I have had forever. I love the colors. I really love the black embelli's they have in the kit. I would have never chosen black. I usually go with brown but black is a beautiful contrast with the light colors.

I used the sketch at Artful Delight:

AUGUST LAYOUT SKETCH ASC #35
I traced around a bowl (lol) and cut out 6 circles, randomly punched the edges with a decorative punch, inked the edges in black and then wadded each of them up in my hand. I punched some little flowers and leaves and then added brads. The other embelli's came with my kit. I added 3 little bows that I made with a fork. You can go HERE to see how to make them.

Scrapbookin'

I have been Scrapbooking all weekend! UG! This is a layout I did
of my Dad's Career with American Greetings.
1954-1984
Dad is the one in the black suit  :-)
Actually, he is in the middle/back row.

This is my Dad in the Military.
Handsome huh?
This is a layout of my Father-in-law. We celebrated Mother's Day
and his birthday at Uncle Buck's in Brewster NE.
My Father-in-law received a flag from his Grandson Bruce, who was stationed in Iraq at that time.
The flag had flown at his Camp in Iraq.

embossing

What month is this anyway?
July is usually beastly hot and humid in Nebraska this time of year. It has been so nice. Kinda like fall.
I am still working on getting caught up with my Scrapbooking. Here is a page I made today of my Granddaughter's 8th Birthday in March...ya, I am a little behind   :-(
The paper is from Bo Bunny. I love the colors! I Die Cut her name with my SU! Dies, punched some flowers and a label for the "8" (also SU!).  I Die cut leaves from a Cheery Lynn's Design Die and made a little pocket folder from a file that I won from The Cutting Cafe.

Then, I embossed them all with a SU! embossing folder.

One down...15 to go! Better get busy. Thanks for stopping! :-)

Sweet and Simple

My MIL passed away about a month ago. She was a unique character! She had a good life and got an enormous amount of happiness out of the simplest things. She wrote a story 50 years ago, about learning to cook. So funny! It was read at her funeral. Everyone laughed and cried.
I created this layout for my Grandson's scrapbook. I included the story she wrote and a note telling about some of my memories of her. She loved antiques and every piece of furniture had a Doily on it. I used my Cheery Lynn Design Die's to make a little Doily and some leaves. I added some flowers and a Quote..." It is the sweet, simple things of life which are the real ones after all." -Laura Ingalls Wilder-  I thought that was perfect for my MIL.
Frosted Designs is having a Blog Hop! After you hop around, you will need to do a project using this Quote. There are quite a few awesome prizes. You might want to check it out!

On the Pontoon

I have been working hard trying to get caught up on my Scrapbooking. Now that I have moved, I again have a place to play. Even though it is just the inside of a closet! LOL
The family all gathered at The Lake and we had a great time, as usual. The weather was perfect....hot!
My Grandaughter loves the song "Pontoon" by Little Big Town. It does have a catchy little tune. She always giggles everytime they sing the part, motor boatin' . I wanted her to remember this, so I made this page for her scrapbook.

I hope you are having a great summer.

Skater Boy

Our weather went from freezing to down-right HOT! I went to my Grandson's grade school track meet the other day & just about melted! But it was so much fun watching Ryan ( he is 8 yrs old...do you see the playing card? cute huh?) & all the other children. They are young enough that the pressure of winning isn't there. It's all about having fun to them. Isn't that the way it should be? I mean, after all, how many will go on to become Olympic Track Stars?

Here's Ryan's scrapbook page that I made using the new release image "Skater Boy". If you played along last week in Designed2Delights Progressive Challenge, then you received it in your email...for free! If you didn't play with us last week, you can purchase it in Faith's Store & begin to play along with us. It is bunches of Fun! Be sure you check out all the inspiration @ D2D's new blog.

Merry Christmas to all & to all a good night!

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night! I thought that was the perfect sentiment, since it appears that Santa is headed to bed after a long night of flying around the world delivering presents. Thanks Anni. Now I am all caught up with my scrapbooking. Whew!
For instructions on how to punch this Santa, go to THIS post. Have a great day!

Santa's face is made with the following SU! punches: 2-3/8" Circle (beard), Curly Label (mustache), 1/2" Circle (nose), 1-3/4"Circle (head), 1-3/8" circle cut in half (hat), 1/2" circle (pom-pom). The eyes I stamped with Peachy Keen's "Everyday Character Face Parts".

Katie's scrapbook page

I have been trying to get caught up on my scrapbooking. I know that when Christmas is over, I will have gobs of pictures to scrapbook, so I better get caught up now.
I called my granddaughter the other night & asked her what her favorite things are this year. Every year when I scrapbook the grandkids' school pictures, I write a little something about the things they like. Well, this year she likes butterflies, ladybugs & the color pink. Can you see the lady bug on the right? I made it with the 1/2" circle punch so, she's pretty small, but boy is she cute!
